Like the previous film, it follows a group of scientists who must outrun and outswim the megalodons when a malevolent mining operation threatens their mission and forces them into a high-stakes battle for survival.

This is one of those movies that you love to hate, it certainly takes you on a wild ride especially if you see the movie in 4DX 3D, there are several action sequences in the movie where the 4DX seats are moving so much that you think to yourself, “why didn't they fit seatbelts to these things”.

The best explanation is that Bingbing may have quietly taken a step back from acting to pursue other interests. If she has retired from acting, Suyin's death in Meg 2: The Trench makes a bit more sense. The film was released in 2023 and she has no acting credits since 2022.

The climax is an action feast. The only problem with this film is that logic goes for a toss, and that's heavily attributed to the story, not the writing, as the way it was written made it believable. Logics aside, this is a decent film, and you should watch it!

For a while, “The Meg 2” is a deep-sea-dive-gone-wrong thriller, waterlogged division, as Statham's Jonas leads a research expedition in a pair of submersibles down to the Mariana Trench, 25,000 feet below the surface.
